KSRe is a gameplay overhaul inspired by SkyRe (Skyrim). This mod similarly redesigns base gameplay extensively.
The overall aim is to simulate the Kerbal space program more comprehensively, using a stockalike, semi-realistic style and sci-fi genre conventions. There should be sufficient depth and variety for players to explore any niche within the world of aerospace (e.g. crew psychology), while keeping the overall level of complexity managable for player-administrators of all experience levels - from beginner to veteran.
The core gameplay of vessel construction and astrophysics remains unchanged. Many base game mechanics like science and fuels are redesigned and expanded, and some partially complete base game features like secondary missions and ISRU have been completed. There are also many new features including ignition failure, ullage and non-player agencies.
The project has been a work in progress for many years, mostly offline and beginning in the prequel. While the first iteration is still available on SourceForge, KSP2 has been chosen for ongoing development.

The heart of the mod is the variable part damage system. This deepens the stock fine/destroyed state with incremental damage from various sources, supporting time-based EVA repairs, the "PAL 5000" diagnostic AI, and other improvements.
Engines extend the damage modules to simulate several more realistic effects (providing a purpose for test stands), and select other part types also take damage uniquely.
The primary new UI, the Kerbal Life app, provides an interface for many new functions centered around Kerbals.
Includes initial Kerbonaut life simulation, psychological and medical types of Kerbal damage and recovery, 11 different crew roles, ranks, highly varied Kerbal personalities and non-player agencies.
Similar to the KSP1 overhaul mods, but this implementation suits the miniaturized stock system (or preferably the 2.5x planet rescale), and prioritizes accessibility for all experience levels.
Includes 3 core bipropellants, varied throttle ranges, engine instability, ignition failures, ullage, boiloff, fuel leaks, weaker reaction wheels, persistent rotation, adjusted masses + fuel mass fractions, random part faults and part reliability development.
The new stockalike science system provides a more sandbox-style campaign, with greater variety in playstyles, replay value and gamification with a semi-realistic theme.
Includes 11 science categories with specialization buffs, +22 science sources, subtype tech prerequisites and progressive tech discovery.
The campaign implements a unique concept to remain suitable for beginners, with the early game inspired by the first human rocket program, Opel RAK rocket vehicles and rocket planes.
Includes a new 7-tier tech tree with +50 techs, +7 primary missions and +20 stock secondary missions that were incomplete and hidden in the base game.
